From star chefs, to first time restaurant owners, to multi-national companies, CGI works with a broad spectrum of retail and restaurant businesses in a variety of situations. What can we do for your business? Please contact us.
Lauren Kiino – The Red Dog
Lauren Kiino, former partner of Daniel Patterson at Plum and Coi and current owner of Il Cane Rosso is a client for whom CGI completed a lease for The Red Dog Restaurant and Fearless, a casual coffee concept, in a prime South of Market location. We are currently looking at long-term planning for multiple concepts in both the Greater Bay Area and Los Angeles.
Hubert Keller – Fleur de Lys
Hubert and Chantal Keller own Fleur de Lys, Fleur (Las Vegas) and Burger Bar. A long time Michelin starred restaurant operator, Hubert is also a TV celebrity chef (Top Chef), a James Beard Award Winner and a cookbook author. Hubert has been our client for many years. Most recently, we represented him in a license deal to open Burger Bar at Macy’s Union Square.
Shelley Lindgren – A16
Shelley Lindgren is the co-owner of the internationally acclaimed pizza restaurant and Bib Gourmand, A16, which opened on College Avenue in Oakland’s Rockridge neighborhood in Spring 2013. Shelley is also co-owner of Michelin starred SPQR.
Jack’s Restaurant & Bar
Jack’s Restaurant and Bar is a family-friendly contemporary upscale diner with a slight Greek accent. We helped the three brothers (and veterans of the restaurant world) open their locations. The first deal included taking over an existing restaurant in Pleasant Hill. The second lease was a ground up development in which the city of San Bruno contributed tenant improvement money in addition to an allowance from the developer. Their third location opens in San Mateo in early 2014.
Henry Meer – City Hall Restaurant
Henry Meer is founder and owner of City Hall Restaurant in New York. Henry previously owned the Cub Room and worked with Andre Soltner at Lutece and La Cote Basque. CGI is currently working with Henry on two projects, one in Florida and the other in Manhattan.
Adriano Paganini – Super Duper
Adriano Paganini owns five Super Duper Burgers plus Beretta, Delarosa, Starbelly (an eclectic menu specializing in Italian comfort foods), and Lolinda (a contemporary Argentinian steakhouse). Adriano’s accomplishments include founding and building 46 Pasta Pomodoro units prior to selling the business. Pasta Pomodoro was the first chef-driven $10-meal that inspired the entire fast casual category. We are currently working with Adriano on securing multiple locations for both existing and upcoming concepts.
Pascal Rigo – La Boulange
Pascal Rigo is the founder of La Boulange, an authentic, rustic French bakery café. In addition to the cafés, Pascal bakes for local fine dining restaurants and hotels, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. In June 2012, Starbucks purchased all twenty of La Boulange’s cafés and has selected CGI to continue its representation of La Boulange in its Bay Area and Southern California expansions.
Mixt Greens & Split Bread
Brothers-in-law David and Andrew founded Mixt Greens in 2005. A chef-driven salad concept that redefined the casual $10 salad, Mixt Greens has flourished in San Francisco’s Financial District and Los Angeles’s Miracle Mile. We’re currently working on the expansion of their newest concept, Split Bread as well as growing Mixt Greens.
Michael Sopher & Erin Brooks – Tropisueno
Tropisueno is a taqueria by day and a restaurant and bar by night. Michael and Erin both worked in the industry for over 20 years, but neither had owned their own restaurant. We secured a space for them in downtown San Francisco on Yerba Buena Lane. The location has proven to be successful as they doubled their first year’s revenue by Year 3. We are currently working with Michael and Erin on another concept.
We represented Bacchus Management in their search for a high-end San Francisco location to celebrate Chef Mark Sullivan’s American cuisine. The ideal location happened to be occupied by a restaurant, which was not on the market. The first step was convincing the existing restaurant to sell. From there, we handled a building encroachment issue with the adjacent property and secured a hard liquor license in an area where a Conditional Use Permit was required. The entire deal was challenging, but when it was over, Spruce had an amazing first year in sales and we had two new clients: the property owner and Pascal Rigo’s La Boulange. Both Spruce and The Village Pub have Michelin stars.
Craig & Annie Stoll – Delfina
Craig & Annie Stoll are founders and owners of Delfina, Locanda and Delfina Pizzeria. We have known the Stoll’s since before they opened Delfina in the Mission in 1998. We originally talked about the Pacific Heights location where we eventually secured a Pizzeria Delfina lease in 2011.
Mollie Stone’s Market
Established in 1985, Mollie Stone’s Markets is a high-end grocery store chain known for its fresh produce, prepared foods, seafood, wine and great selection of Kosher foods. Mollie Stone’s Markets has nine stores in the Bay Area including Burlingame, Greenbrae, Palo Alto, San Bruno, San Mateo, Sausalito and the Castro, Pacific Heights, and Twin Peaks neighborhoods of San Francisco.
Barbacco and Perbacco
CGI helped Staffan and Umberto place two contemporary Northern Italian cuisine restaurants in the Financial District. Perbacco opened in 2006 to critical acclaim, including a New York Times pronouncement that Perbacco would be deemed the “Best Italian Restaurant in almost any city in America.” In December 2009, Barbacco, Perbacco’s sister restaurant opened with a wine bar and more casual atmosphere. CGI secured favorable lease terms and provided access to an architect and restaurant builder team that turned the restaurants into the popular showplaces they are today.
Thad Vogler – Bar Agricole
Thad Vogler is the founder and operator of Bar Agricole, which has been named one of the top 5 bars in America and one of the top 50 bars in the world. Thad is also a James Beard Foundation Award Winner and cocktail maven who created the bar programs at seven of San Francisco’s top restaurants. Bar Agricole was put together at the height of the 2008 economic meltdown. Our job was to keep the transaction together while our Client replaced investors who no longer could meet their commitments.
Martin Yan – M.Y. China
Martin Yan is the famed television celebrity chef who starred in more than 3,600 cooking shows, authored 30 plus cookbooks and led countless culinary tours of East Asia. Martin worked with CGI to open Yan Can Cook, an upscale quick serve concept more than ten years ago. In December 2012, we helped Martin—along with partners Scott Rodrick and Willy and Ronny Ng, the brothers behind Koi Palace—open M.Y. China at Westfield San Francisco Centre.
